The research groups "Extension Arable Crops" and "Extension Vegetable Crops" develop ecological measures for pest, disease and weed control and test varieties and cropping systems of various agricultural crops with regard to their suitability for cultivation and use under Swiss conditions. The EU project "LEGENDARY" compares and quantifies the ecosystem services of legumes with other field crops. The internships in the Extension research groups Arable / Vegetable Crops provide comprehensive knowledge of field experiments and post-harvest laboratory analyses. With your commitment and the acquired knowledge, you will contribute to the successful implementation of the project.

This is how you can contribute

  • Support in field experiments and harvesting of pulses in arable and vegetable cultivation
  • Data collection: plant growth, weed pressure, insect diversity, soil samples
  • Post-harvest work: Preparation of samples for laboratory analysis (quality and seed health)
  • Assistance in the organisation of a field day for farmers and agricultural adivsors
 

This makes you unique

  • Completed studies in agricultural sciences, biology or an equivalent degree
  • A strong interest in practical research as well as enjoyment and endurance in field work
  • Knowledge in ceeral/legume/vegetable production and knowledge of statistics are desirable
  • Committed. Flexible, reliable and team-oriented personality
  • Knowledge of two official Swiss languages and good command of English

The 'Plants and Plant Products' Competence Division for researches into practical solutions for the Swiss plant production sector and performs various enforcement activities. It is in close contact with agricultural extension and the various branches of farming, thereby ensuring that new solutions are rapidly deployed in practice, where they can exercise their impact.
