At the Department of Economics of the University of St.Gallen a new
Assistant/Ph.D. position in Financial Economics or Quantitative Finance

will be filled starting in August 2017. The position is part of the Chair of Mathematics held by Prof. Dr. Enrico De Giorgi. The candidates for this position are expected to start a Ph.D. in Economics and Finance at the University of St.Gallen (http://www.pef.unisg.ch).

The Ph.D. thesis can cover both theoretical or empirical methods in Finance and Economics (see Prof. De Giorgi's website (http://www.enricodegiorgi.com/ for an overview of his current research agenda).

The successful candidate will be integrated in a young, research-oriented team, with a strong foundation in quantitative methods for Finance and Economics. The group is located at the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of St.Gallen (http://www.mathstat.unisg.ch).

The new Ph. D. candidate is expected to interact with the professors of the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics in the development of his/her thesis, as well as with professors and post-docs of the School of Economics and Political Science and of the School of Finance.

Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor and Master degrees in Economics, Finance, Mathematics (in this case, with some studies in Economics), or related fields
  • Willingness to write a Ph.D. in Economics and Finance at the University of St.Gallen (http://www.pef.unisg.ch)
  • Strong willingness to apply quantitative methods in Finance or Economics
  • Strong interest in Decision Theory, Risk Theory, Behavioural Finance and Behavioural Economics
  • Interest in BigData related issues.
